Anne Crary Jantz has been an artist all her life. You can see a lot of her work on her personal website: http://www.annejantz.com. Recently, Anne began to write and illustrate children’s books because she loves children, animals, flowers, and bright, joyful colors. Anne grew up in the country near Plattsburgh, New York and always loved animals. She married Bill Jantz, a city boy when she was 18 and moved with him to his hometown, Detroit, Michigan. Anne has a B.F.A. in Painting & Sculpture and a Master’s Degree in Art Therapy, both from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan, U.S.A. She has been an art teacher in Michigan and in Australia.
Anne has lived in 7 states and 7 countries with her soul mate-husband, Bill, due to his employment as an automotive designer. She studied Art in every locale. They live in Dearborn Heights, Michigan now. They have two grown children, both married with children of their own. Anne’s grandchildren help plan the books.
Anne’s first book “Olivia Ocelot Comes to the Rescue: Adventures in the Rainforest”, is set in Costa Rica. She’s working on the second book now, which also stars the beautiful and intelligent Olivia Ocelot. It is set in the Desert near the Chiricahua Mountains in southern Arizona. Anne and Bill spent 3 years in Arizona while Bill worked for an aerospace company. The third book will be set in Michigan, and it will also star Olivia Ocelot. Olivia will be coming to Michigan at the request of her Michigan cousin, Lydia Lynx.
Anne is also a computer geek, and she is learning design for 3D Printing at Techshop in Allen Park, Michigan. Her 2018 New Year's Resolution is to learn animation and to recreate her Olivia Ocelot books as animated adventures.
Bill Jantz was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. He graduated from Southeastern High School and then went to Wayne State University in the Engineering program for a semester. He then decided he would rather join the US Air Force, and he went into training in Texas. He was assigned to a Missile Defense Team and spent 4 years at Plattsburgh Air Force Base in Northern New York State near the Canadian border.
Bill met Anne Crary on a blind date, and then made her Anne Crary Jantz 2 years later when he got out of the service. They moved to Detroit, and Bill worked in the automotive industry as a draftsman for 3 years while Anne finished her degree in Sculpture at Wayne State University.
They both had a burning urge to travel, and suddenly an ad appeared in the Detroit News for an automotive draftsman in Australia. Bill answered the ad, got hired, and off they went. Bill subsequently worked for automotive companies in 7 countries and 7 states. Now they're back in Detroit, and Bill works freelance for Inventors creating 3D Models of their inventions. He also helps Anne with her publishing efforts.
